Title: Caretaker Manager/Ranch Hand, Full Time Position
Working cattle ranch seeking experienced ranch help in NW Colorado. Seeking a candidate who is a cut above. Long-term employment and advancement potential. Individual should have strong skills in ranch operations and organization. Appropriate skills should include strong work ethic, self-starter, with strong communication abilities to join a progressive ranch operation. We are seeking a team player who brings to the table a skill set that can promote new ideas and be receptive to progressive regenerative ranch management practices. We are in NW Colorado along the White River, utilizing both BLM and Forest permits for our cattle.
This full-time position entails the following duties:
1. Infrastructure Maintenance and Caretaking of Ranch Facilities and Equipment (approx. ¼ time)
- Overall responsibility for caretaking of houses and grounds: Assist and manage team in facilities maintenance
- Vehicle maintenance includes trucks, tractors, implements and miscellaneous vehicles
- Snow removal and winter maintenance
- Establish a maintenance program for all ranch equipment and facilities
- Supervise and assist with some fencing.
2. Assisting in Healthy Cattle Management and Operations (approx. ¾ time)
- Assist in livestock management and movement in BLM permits, Forest permits and irrigated pastures
- Be familiar with doctoring, branding, calving, and stress-free handling of livestock
- Experienced with horses and cattle handling on horseback
- Familiarity with grazing practices with the goal of continually improving soil and habitat of both irrigated and dry land
Desirable qualities/skills:
- Extensive ranch management and operations experience. Interest and knowledge of regenerative grazing methods and preventive maintenance.
- Background in equipment use, care and maintenance. Experience in caretaking in facilities and residences. Have strong communication skills. Be a team player. Necessary skills include handling horse and cattle, working knowledge of and familiarity with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, and general caretaking.
This position includes housing and can accommodate a family for the right person. Starting salary range from $30,000 to $35,000 based on experience, and benefits. This is a great opportunity for a permanent position with potential for advancement.
