Elder Ranch
Ranch in Southeast Oregon looking for someone to join our team with a good attitude, well rounded skills and has experience with cattle. This is not a full time riding job although we do use horses for moving cattle from pasture to pasture, BLM and Forest allotments, working and branding calves. Daily responsibilities will vary depending on the season and ranch needs.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Gathering, sorting, branding, roping, checking pastures, finding & doctoring sick animals, ability to recognize a dry cow from a wet cow, able to pair cattle out and shipping cattle
- Assisting during calving season
- Equipment operation (tractors, pickups, trailers) and basic mechanical work/maintenance on ranch equipment
- Feeding livestock when necessary
- Property upkeep and general ranch maintenance
- Horseback work during cattle operations
- Fence repair
- Assist with Pivot irrigation systems
- Seasonal projects
- Other duties as assigned
Desired skills we are looking for:
- Prior ranching and livestock experience required
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong work ethic “pitch in wherever needed” attitude
- Must be dependable, honest, and self-motivated
- Good communication skills needed
- Valid driver’s license required
Pay DOE and competitive, paid monthly
