Ranch Manager needed at Private 3,000-acre Ranch in Buffalo, Wyoming

We are seeking a hard-working professional to manage and improve the structures, facilities, and grounds on our family ranch in Buffalo, Wyoming.  Our 3,000 acre ranch, located in the foothills of the Bighorn mountains, is a special place with several houses, shop buildings, barns, and an equestrian facility.  The ideal candidate is super smart, works hard, focuses on details, sees the big picture, has substantial hands-on experience, and is dedicated to making our ranch beautiful.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Structures:  Maintain and improve houses, shop buildings, barns, fuel sheds, and equestrian facility.  Work includes electrical, plumbing, wood working, painting, cleaning, heating, cooling, lighting, appliances, electronics, security systems, fire pits, wood stoves, fuel tanks, propane tanks, solar arrays, generators, battery systems, along with operation and testing of all facilities.
  • Grounds:  Maintain and improve landscaping at all residential homes, corresponding entrances, ranch entrances, and key roadways.  Work includes sprinkler systems, water pumps, filters, fertilizing, aeration, weed control, weed eating, seeding, planting, watering, tree trimming, tree removal, mowing, edging, mulching, clearing brush, fence line mowing, cattle guard maintenance, welding, snow removal, road grading, and all other tasks to cause the grounds to be beautiful.
  • Equipment:  Use, maintain, and repair ranch equipment and vehicles, including tractors, track loader, excavator, pick-up trucks, dump truck, trailers, implements, side-by-sides, and ATVs.
  • Pastures:  Ensure healthy pastures for wildlife, livestock, and long-term sustainability.  Maintain, improve, repair, and replace fencing.  Manage and maintain water wells and stock tanks.
  • Vendors:  Manage vendors and contractors, coordinate deliveries, purchase supplies.
  • Communication:  Provide prompt and clear communication, both verbally and in written form, regarding strategic priorities, work progress, issues that arise, outstanding items, invoicing, payments, and status reports.

We are a family with high expectations for ourselves, our ranch, and those we work with.  Accordingly, our ranch manager must address all work with excellence, from the smallest detail to larger challenges.  This job requires hard work, long hours, grit, fortitude, attention to detail, continuous excellence, and plenty of sweat.  In return, you receive satisfaction from a job well done on a beautiful property, along with compensation that is commensurate with your contributions.

Please note that this is not a cattle position as we have a separate outfit running our cattle.  Rather, this position is focused on structures, facilities, and grounds.  We expect honest, integrity, and transparency.  No drugs or tobacco.
