We are seeking a versatile, experienced, and self-starting individual for Ranch Manager (couple or family welcomed) to oversee and manage the daily operations of a large private estate in the Rocky Mountains.
Ranch Operations & Property Maintenance:
- Maintain and repair ranch infrastructure, including roads, fencing, buildings, and water systems.
- Oversee equipment, vehicles, and machinery to ensure everything is in top working order.
- Coordinate seasonal tasks such as planting, irrigation, haying, and snow removal.
- Maintain and improve the forested lands. Clear deadfall, trail construction, minimize wildfire risk.
- Understand water rights and usage.
- Maintain and regulate ditch systems that run throughout the ranch.
- Serve as primary point of contact with companies that lease the land to run cattle.
- Ensure all physical assets of the ranch are kept clean, safe, and ready for use.
Property Management Support:
- Act as the “boots on the ground” and point of contact for all on-site operations.
- Communicate regularly with the owners regarding ranch plans, budgets, and priorities.
- Verify all work completed by vendors and approve invoices.
- Assist with special projects and residential construction projects as requested
- Project management of any small repair projects; manage and supervise related contractors
- Opening and closing of property and in-residence readiness whenever employers or guests of employers are in town.
- Property maintenance such as changing trash removal, light bulbs, moving and cleaning deck furniture, exterior fixture cleaning, washing windows, maintaining gutters and outside sweeping as needed.
- Preventative property maintenance such as cleaning/lubrication of hinges, locks, and other mechanical items, as scheduled.
- Preventative maintenance to two residences including calking, grouting, painting, etc.
- Provide a welcoming, professional presence when owners or guests are on-site.
- Provide hospitality services when family is in residence (hire chef, cleaners, arrange activities, etc)
Qualifications:
- Prior experience managing a working ranch, with skills in both operations and maintenance.
- Proficient in operating and maintaining ranch equipment and vehicles including Skid Steer, mini excavator, and mid-size tractor with hay cutting attachments.
- Self-motivated, physically capable, and comfortable in a remote setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as a team.
- Ability to prioritize a diversified workload.
- Good judgment, tact and initiative to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Discretion in handling confidential material is required.
- Experience with livestock and land stewardship practices preferred.
