Juniper Ranch is hiring for the role of Ranch Manager. This role is a full-time, exempt position located between Steens Mt and the Sheepshead Mts – one and one half hours south of Burns, OR. The Ranch Manager works closely with the ranch owner and provides daily supervision and annual performance results for the ranch.

Other requirements of the work: Physical stamina necessary to work outside in all conditions (heat, cold, wet, dry); frequent bending and lifting up to 80 lbs; sometimes long work hours common in agriculture; the natural inclination and ability to live in a remote location with limited time away from the ranch.
Skills and Abilities required within six months of hire
- Beef Quality Assurance certification
- First aid training, CPR and bleed control
- Farm CDL
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the cattle operation, including feeding, watering, and care for all livestock
- Develop and implement breeding programs to enhance herd quality and productivity
- Monitor cattle health and welfare, including administering veterinary care as needed
- Coordinate and WORK WITH staff to conduct tasks, such as herding, feeding, and maintenance of ranch facilities and equipment
- Maintain records of cattle inventory, health logs, breeding programs, and feed inventory
- Manage pasture and grazing practices to ensure sustainable land use and promote forage growth
- Develop and maintain the ranch budget, including forecasting, control of expenses, and coding of payables
- Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Stay updated on best practices in cattle ranching and industry trends
- Collaborate with veterinarians and feed suppliers as necessary
- Any other duties as assigned
Duties the Ranch Manager is not responsible for
- Yearly calf negotiations
- Monthly bill paying
- Payroll
- Equipment purchases
