The Ranch Operations Lead position is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Operations Manager. This position is responsible for the care of the livestock as well as the general operation of the ranch program.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Livestock

  • Accurate recorded inventory of livestock, preparation of animals to be processed for the sale, and keep a well maintained and healthy herd.
  • Must have knowledge and experience working cattle.

Equipment Operator

  • Responsible for maintaining all ranch equipment in good working order.
  • Must be able to operate large equipment, mainly tractors, also skid steer, bulldozer, dump truck as needed.
  • Other helpful skills would include general knowledge about maintenance of machinery, safety of this machinery and welding skills.
  • Operates vehicles and farm equipment including tractors, tillage implements, sprayers, shredders, planters, etc., in performing pasture management, bulldozer work/clearing etc.

Seasonal Farming

  • Must be able to operate tractors and hay baling equipment. Seasonal planting of winter wheat and summer Sudan is vital to cattle operation. May require more than 40 hours due to weather during planting season for short time.

Ranch Operations

  • Responsible for keeping up the condition of all barns, pens, and clearing fences.
  • Report any damage/loss of equipment or supplies to the Operations Manager.
  • A person must be self-motivated, responsible and someone who takes the initiative and sees things that need to be taken care of and reports them to the Operations Manager; must be able to work well on your own or as a team.
  • Physical requirements include ability to frequently lift 50 pounds and do a lot of walking, and bending etc.
  • Sometimes Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends due to weather conditions.

Qualifications:

Compassionate, Professional, Good Ethical and Moral Character, Communication Skills, Positive Attitude, Team Oriented, Integrity, Dedicated/Dependable, Creative, and Endurance.

  • Must be cleared through a criminal background.
  • Must have at least two years of experience in maintenance and mechanic work
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to try new tasks.
  • Must be a high school or vocational school graduate.
  • Must have experience in the ranch operation field.
  • Must have a working knowledge of managing a ranch including experience in cow/ calf operations.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. Must be a cooperative team member.
