We are looking for an experienced cook/housekeeper to join our team, preparing excellent meals and maintaining a clean, inviting environment for our guests.
Job Description
As the Remote Fishing Camp Cook/Housekeeper, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals and maintaining camp cleanliness. You’ll ensure that guests enjoy delicious, well-balanced meals while keeping living spaces tidy and welcoming. This position is ideal for a single person or a couple comfortable working in a remote setting.
Responsibilities
Meal Preparation:
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for guests and staff, accommodating dietary needs.
- Ensure meals are fresh, flavorful, and well-presented.
- Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and keep the kitchen stocked.
- Incorporate local ingredients, including fresh seafood and wild game, into creative, Alaskan-inspired meals.
Guest Interaction:
- Engage with guests in a friendly, welcoming manner during meals.
- Answer questions about meals, recommend local dishes, and share stories about the camp.
- Help foster a social, enjoyable dining experience.
Kitchen & Housekeeping Duties:
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen, following food safety regulations.
- Keep dining areas tidy and comfortable for guests.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning common areas, bedrooms, and laundry.
- Turn over guest rooms between groups to ensure a fresh, sanitized environment.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with camp staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with serving meals, cleaning, and general camp logistics as needed.
Qualifications
Experience:
- At least 2 years of cooking experience in a professional or remote kitchen.
- Experience cooking for large groups (preferably in a camp or lodge setting).
- Housekeeping or cleaning experience is preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong culinary skills with a passion for delicious, well-balanced meals.
- Ability to cook with a variety of ingredients, including wild-caught fish and game.
- Knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene.
- Ability to work independently and manage a remote kitchen.
- Strong housekeeping skills with attention to detail.
