Private
We are seeking a self-motivated, hands-on Estate Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and improvement of a private rural property in Southeast Missouri. This is a working role for someone who thrives with light supervision, takes ownership of projects, and gets things done right the first time.
The Property
The estate includes acreage, three homes, several outbuildings, vehicles and equipment, a small campground, and a historic schoolhouse currently undergoing full restoration. The successful candidate will keep the grounds, buildings, and systems in solid working order while advancing ongoing projects to completion on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and perform maintenance and repairs across all buildings, systems, and grounds
- Manage the small campground (upkeep, seasonal readiness, basic operations)
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, and outbuildings
- Lead and coordinate work crews, seasonal help, and contractors as needed
- Plan and execute projects—including the ongoing full restoration of the old schoolhouse—meeting deadlines and staying within budgets
- Perform hands-on work in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, and supervise specialized trades when required
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and proactive problem-solving
- Keep the property safe, functional, and presentable year-round
Ideal Candidate
- Self-driven and comfortable working independently with minimal oversight
- Goal-oriented with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage budgets
- Solid practical skills in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
- Experience managing property, facilities, crews, or similar operations preferred
- Reliable, organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks on a working rural estate
- Comfortable with outdoor work and the realities of Southeast Missouri weather and seasons
Compensation
Pay is commensurate with experience. Housing may be available as part of the package for the right candidate.
This is a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in tangible results, and wants the autonomy to run a property well.
