Do you love to cook? Are you passionate about food? The Westervelt Lodge in Aliceville, Alabama is seeking a seasonal food service professional/cook for the months of November 1st through May 1st. We are looking for an energetic individual to join our kitchen staff.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cook and prepare up to three meals with appetizers per day for up to twenty-five guests. Meals are generally served buffet style.
  • Set-up workstation with all the necessary ingredients and equipment.
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items.
  • Safely use a variety of utensils including knives.
  • Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods.
  • Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines.
  • Safely store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation.
  • Ensure security of company assets.

Required Qualifications:

  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Ability to work long hours and remain on your feet for extended periods of time. This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test

Preferred Experience:

  • Food safety certification
