Seeking seasonal ranch hand for private Montana ranch. Ranch headquarters located near Choteau, MT with Satellite ranch properties near Alder, MT. Seasonal staff may be assigned to either or both properties as staffing needs require. Ranch hand will assist the manager and staff by maintaining the bison herd, property, equipment and buildings in a sustainable and respectful manner. This is a full-time seasonal position. Must have flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends. On ranch transportation, room and board provided.
Duties:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Fence repair: Property maintenance & repair
- Vehicle and machinery maintenance and safe operation
- Water system repair: maintenance and construction
- Tree removal
- Weed spraying and removal
- Trail maintenance
- Facility maintenance and repair
- Irrigation
- Assorted duties as requested by the ranch manager
Requirements:
- Safely operate ATV/UTV. Training provided
- The candidate must be available to work May through August extended season available for the right candidate
- Able to work independently and work well with others
- Able to take directions
- Basic horsemanship and riding skills beneficial
- Must be comfortable working in outdoor/backcountry environment
- Safely operate tools and equipment. Chainsaw, hand tools and power tools.
- Travel between properties may be required
- Basic CPR and First Aid (Training is provided)
- High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience
- Must be able to lift 100 lbs and physically fit
- Current driver’s license
- Pass a background check
- Must be 18 years of age
- Legal to work in the US
