We are a family-owned beef cattle ranch seeking a dedicated and experienced Skilled Ranch Hand or an enthusiastic candidate with less experience but a strong desire to learn from our experienced, multigenerational team. Key Responsibilities:
- Daily care and management of beef cattle herd, including feeding, watering, and monitoring health.
- Assist with calving, branding, vaccinating, and weaning processes.
- Operate and maintain ranch equipment such as tractors, ATVs, and fencing tools.
- Perform general ranch maintenance, including fence repairs, pasture management, and facility upkeep.
- Identify and report sick or injured cattle promptly, implementing basic treatment protocols under supervision.
- Support seasonal tasks like haying, herding, and market preparation.
- Work collaboratively with the ranch team in all weather conditions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven experience as a ranch hand on a beef cattle operation (minimum 2-3 years preferred).
- Strong ability to identify sick cattle, including recognizing symptoms of common illnesses such as respiratory issues, foot rot, or parasites.
- Knowledge of basic animal husbandry, herd health practices, and safe handling techniques.
- Physical stamina for demanding outdoor work, including lifting heavy loads and working long hours.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must provide professional references from previous employers in the ranching or agriculture industry—we will contact them to verify experience and performance.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Familiarity with sustainable ranching practices is a plus.
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience, plus benefits (housing may be available for qualified candidates). We welcome candidates with limited industry knowledge who demonstrate a strong willingness to learn the industry from our experienced, multigenerational team.
