We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual or couple to join our team located in the Rolling Plains of West Texas. Participate with owner and ranch manager to run a private 10,000+ acre multi-generational family hunting and ranching operation. There are no public operations/sold hunts, as this is strictly a retreat for family and friends. The ideal candidate(s) will be responsible for preparing meals, maintaining the cleanliness of the casitas, performing yard work and general ranch maintenance. This has the potential to be a full or seasonal, live-in position for an individual or couple offering a unique opportunity to work in a beautiful and serene environment.
Housing provided – a one-bedroom apartment away from family houses. Utilities and fiber internet included.
Duties During Hunting season (November to February)
- 3 meals a day when family and guests are on property. Generally, most weekends Thursday to Sunday
- We like to serve quality, fresh food. Not gourmet
- Cook meals, serve, and clean up
- We serve a coffee/snack, large breakfast, light lunch, appetizer, dinner and dessert each day
- The day begins with coffee and snacks for the hunters before heading out. Coffee area needs to be ready around 6:30 am
- There are a few casitas clustered together where everyone stays. The rooms should be cleaned at the end of each visit. Changing and washing bed linens, all towels, cleaning bathrooms, kitchen and cook house. All floors must be swept, mopped, etc. Rooms vacuumed. Take out all trash, restock waters etc
Duties Year Round
- Ability to take directions from ranch manager
- Clean, dust and mop all the living quarters weekly
- Ranch maintenance including lodge, grounds keeping, mowing, roads and brush control
- Operation of riding lawn mowers, tractors, leaf blower and skid steers
- Wildlife feeding, filling of protein/corn feeders for deer and quail food stations
- Maintain water tanks, troughs and water lines
- Maintain grounds, fences and trails
- Additional duties as required and assigned
Requirements: Must be dependable, hardworking, honest, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Must have references and pass background check and drug test. Must be in good physical health to accomplish job responsibilities. Absolutely no drugs or drinking on the job. Open to pets on a case by case basis.
Basic knowledge of carpentry, vehicle maintenance, plumbing, electric, fencing, animal husbandry/care preferred. Basic machinery operations (skid steer, tractor, bulldozer, etc.) preferred.
Ranch truck provided.
