Family-owned ranch near Uvalde, Texas is looking for an experienced working Ranch Manager to oversee day to day operations of a 3,000+ acre ranch.  This is a long-term placement for active hunting ranch.  This position reports to the Estate Manager.  Ideal candidate is hands-on, self-motivated, and experienced in ranch and hunting operations.

Duties include:

  • Working with current ranch hands to complete projects such as wildlife management, building fences, clearing brush, shredding fields, filling protein and corn feeders
  • Knowledge of irrigation, wells, and tanks
  • Maintaining hunting blinds, ranch vehicles, and heavy equipment
  • Operating heavy equipment
  • Managing homes, landscaping, vendors and employees
  • Collaborating with outfitters to ensure all necessary provisions are arranged for hunters
  • Coordinate with the Estate Manager to provide exceptional service to guests
  • Manage and control costs to include labor, fuel, feed and maintenance
  • Work with Estate Manager and contractors to manage, follow up and complete projects
  • Maintain accurate records pertaining to all ranch activities
  • Provide proper training and delegation of duties to all ranch personnel
  • Adhere and enforce company safety, animal welfare and disease prevention

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to legally work in the United States
  • Must have clean driving record and be able to pass background check
  • English speaking preferred. Some Spanish understanding is helpful
  • Must be flexible with hours, available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Must be able to work outside for long periods of time
  • Ability to write and send reports via email to Owners and Estate Manager
  • Ability to work with and lead a team of ranch hands and housekeeping staff
  • Prefer 5+ years of experience managing a ranch and staff
  • Must be pro-active, hard-working and honest
  • Ability to manage vendors, review statements and invoices, and oversee projects
  • Knowledge of basic handy-man and small engine repairs
  • Must be able to prioritize, plan and execute tasks in a timely matter
