Heavy Machinery Mechanic / Hay Production Technician – North Texas
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Machinery Mechanic with strong hay baling and field operations experience to join our operation in North Texas. This is a full-time position with on-site housing potentially available. The ideal candidate will be highly experienced in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining agricultural and heavy equipment, while also being capable of running a full hay operation from start to finish.
Responsibilities
Heavy Machinery & Equipment Diagnostics:
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, and preventative maintenance on tractors, balers, skid steers, dozers, and other farm machinery.
- Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical failures and complete timely repairs to minimize downtime.
- Maintain shop tools, service records, and parts inventory.
Hay Production Operations:
- Operate tractors, balers, mowers, rakes, and tedders with skill and efficiency.
- Handle full-cycle hay operations: cutting, baling, hauling, and stacking.
- Ensure equipment is properly calibrated and maintained for optimal bale quality and production output.
Field & Pasture Maintenance:
- Prepare and maintain fields for hay production, including mowing, brush clearing, soil improvement, and equipment staging.
- Assist with irrigation or water management systems as needed.
Farm Infrastructure & General Maintenance:
- Perform repairs on fences, gates, barns, machinery sheds, and farm roads.
- Assist with improvements to storage facilities for hay, equipment, and materials.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years as a heavy equipment mechanic, diesel mechanic, or agricultural equipment technician, preferably with hay production experience.
- Mechanical Skills: Strong diagnostic ability; proficient in repairing hydraulics, electrical systems, engines, drivetrains, and farm implements.
- Machinery Operation: Must be skilled in operating tractors, balers, mowers, rakes, skid steers, backhoes, and bulldozers.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and perform hands-on labor.
- Work Ethic: Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid Driver’s License: Required with a clean driving record.
