Live-In Caretaker Couple – Historic Alpine Ranch
A historic private ranch is seeking an experienced, full-time live-in caretaker couple to oversee the operation and care of a beautiful 1,300-acre alpine property in Old Snowmass, Colorado.
The owners are creative professionals with a young child who spend time between Colorado and Los Angeles. They have owned the property for ten years. They currently are at the property for 7-10 days at a time once every couple of months, but plan to spend more extended periods at the property going forward. This is intended to be a long-term position for individuals who enjoy rural mountain living.
Located just 20 minutes from Aspen, the ranch features miles of private hiking trails, streams, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking views. The property offers immediate access to world-class hiking, backpacking, fishing, skiing, and other outdoor recreation.
Housing Provided
A private 1,500-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is provided on the property.
Compensation
A combined salary of $80,000+, depending on experience, is offered for the positions.
Ranch & Property Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Trail maintenance
- Ditch maintenance and flood irrigation
- Fence construction and repair
- General maintenance and repair of the residences (two older residences and one newly constructed home), and outbuildings
- Routine home maintenance, preventative maintenance, and basic repairs
- Winter snow removal and plowing
- Tractor operation (required)
- Equipment maintenance and basic mechanical repairs
- Experience operating skid steers, excavators, and other heavy equipment a plus
Household Responsibilities
Ideal Responsibilities (when couple is at/arriving at property) include:
- Cooking and meal preparation
- Housekeeping, cleaning, and organization
- Grocery shopping and household errands
- Airport transportation
- Assisting with household operations
- Childcare assistance as needed
Ideal Candidates

- Are trustworthy, dependable, and highly organized
- Take initiative and require minimal supervision
- Enjoy living and working in a rural mountain environment
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Can anticipate needs and adapt to changing priorities
- Work well together as a team
- Have previous experience in ranching, estate management, hospitality, or property management
- Ability to work independently and solve problems proactively
- Has some agricultural experience or knowledge
