Indian Creek Ranch is a family-owned cow/calf operation in South Central Montana. We are seeking an honest, hard-working hand who is self-disciplined, has a good attitude, and a strong work ethic.
We run about 650 mother cows. Our heifers start calving in April. We also have a haying operation and dryland farming enterprise. We use ATVs and horses for cow work.
Housing will be provided, including all utilities (except phone, internet, and satellite TV). We also provide ½ a beef. You’ll need basic knowledge of cattle, as well as use of farming & haying equipment, fencing and other tools. Knowing how to mechanic and/or weld is a plus.
Work Schedule: As the nature of the work requires, the schedule will include working nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Schedule must be flexible to address ranch requirements outside of normal operating hours.
Work Requirements:
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously
- Detail oriented
- Dependable
- Ability to think strategically
- Experience in animal handling and care
- Assist with daily ranch operations including feeding, watering, and general care of animals
- Proficiency in operating farm machinery and heavy equipment safely (harvesting, spraying, baling, swathing)
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly
- Basic understanding of mechanical repairs
- Operate and maintain various tools and machinery
- Support with farm maintenance activities including fencing repairs and infrastructure upkeep
